Katherine Ruppe is a film and TV writer, specializing in intrepid female characters who strive to achieve the impossible -- a passion ignited by the stories of the strong women her mother, Loret, met during her many travels around the globe while serving as Peace Corps Director. LIFTOFF, Katherine’s TV pilot portraying America’s first six female astronauts, recently won the Humanitas New Voices Award, an Alfred P. Sloan Development Grant, and was chosen for the Netflix-sponsored Film Independent Episodic Lab. Her thriller feature, TRUE NORTH, is set to be produced by Resonate Entertainment. Katherine has been published in The New York Times “Modern Love” column and her first play was produced at UCLA while she earned her Screenwriting MFA. Katherine’s initial career was in cinematography. As a member of the International Cinematographer’s Guild, she advanced to union camera operator on movies, documentaries, and TV shows. Katherine lives in Venice, CA with her musician husband and rockin’ young daughter.
