Susan Howley, JD, has more than two decades’ experience with crime victims’ issues, working to improve the nation’s response to victims of crime. That experience has included policy advocacy for the rights and interests of crime victims, working to build the capacity of the crime victim services field and identifying needed areas of improvement, exploring the integration of research and practice in victim services and developing recommendations to foster that integration, advocating for funding for victim services and the prevention of victimization, and numerous other activities to improve the response to victims of crime. Susan served on the Peace Corps Volunteer Sexual Assault Advisory Council from 2012 – 2015, serving as the council chair in 2014. She has also served on the National Advisory Committee for the Office on Violence Against Women, Victims Advisory Group to the United States Sentencing Commission, and the Program Advisory Council to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Her current work centers round building an evidence base for victim services.
