ABOUT

For over 30 years, Quirk's Media has been dedicated to promoting the understanding, use and value of marketing research and customer insights across all industries. Quirk's charges no membership fees, offering a wealth of free resources including: original research technique articles; case studies; daily and weekly news reports; Webinars; mobile apps; salary and industry studies; a LinkedIn discussion group; and the most complete and up-to-date directories of market research product and service companies.

Quirk’s delivers the most free or low-cost resources assembled by an independent source, making us the top marketing research information source with the largest global audience. And now we are bringing that content and audience to an event!

Why another industry event? Aren’t there enough already?

There are many conferences within the marketing research and insights industry that deliver high-quality programming. In fact, we partner with many of them! But our research indicated that fewer than 40 percent of researchers have the budget to attend conferences each year. Even large corporations with huge research budgets often work with extremely small education and travel budgets. Given these realities, we wanted to create a low-cost, inclusive conference – something for the entire research community. So, in 2015 we held the first Quirk’s Event in Brooklyn, N.Y., a gathering that has sold out of exhibitor and attendee space every year.

What is the Quirk’s Event?

The Quirk’s event is a two-day experience, with the exhibit hall at the center of the action to facilitate face-to-face meetings between Quirk’s readers and our valued industry supporters. The cost to the client-side attendee will be extremely low (starting under $99) and the cost to exhibit is reasonable too. By making it affordable for suppliers and attendees alike, the goal is to maximize attendance and provide the most inclusive marketing research conference with the best ROI for all.

How is the Quirk’s Event differ from others?

Many events in our industry target specialized topics or are aimed at a single type of researcher. Or the keynote speakers and breakout sessions are the primary focus, utilizing an exhibit hall during breaks. While this approach offers quality learning, the high costs associated with programming these events have to be passed along to attendees and exhibitors, impacting attendance and everyone’s ROI. We flipped that model. The Quirk’s Event offers useful, practical content, surrounded by a lively and interactive exposition hall.

Exposition hall

The exposition hall is at the center of the Quirk’s event. The expectation is that exhibitors will work to engage and delight attendees in the form of: informative presentations, games, food, massage chairs, contests, photo booths, lounge areas and much more. Interactive exhibits better facilitate supplier-client relationships without making clients feel overwhelmed or approaching the area with fear of being bombarded by a sales pitch. The Quirk’s Event is fun and the format innovative!

Thought-leader presentations

Attendee education and learning remain top priorities and presentations will take place in separate conference rooms that are integrated into the exhibit hall. The sessions will consist of case studies, research findings, discussions of techniques, research best practices and even software demos of the latest innovations.

Why Chicago?

Chicago’s central location makes it accessible from anywhere in the United States, whether you’re from the coasts, the south or the Midwest. Chicago is a great city that has easy and sensible transportation and many options for dining and entertainment.

Chicago is the third most populous metropolitan in the U.S. with a population of over 9.5 million people. The city is famous for its Chicago-style deep dish pizza, background in the jazz music scene and notable architecture, including the Willis Tower (referred to by Chicagoans as Sears Tower), the TILT thrill ride in the John Hancock Building and the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio.

Quirk’s Chicago will take place at Navy Pier, a city landmark that overlooks Lake Michigan, one of North America’s five Great Lakes. You won’t need to travel far from the event to find great things to do, as Navy Pier includes a lot of shopping, restaurants and attractions.

Who will be attending?

The Quirk’s Event is designed to be inclusive and collaborative. The engaging layout, low price-point and partnerships with universities and associations will allow the event to act as a gathering place for the entire industry, attracting end-client researchers and suppliers alike, from cutting-edge innovators to those who are happy to stick with their trusted traditional methods; from industry veterans to those new to the field. We expect no less than 700 attendees but are aiming for 850+.
